Who We Are

Founded in 2022, Darul Hedaya Islamic School was built on one belief: Muslim children in Tamale deserve a complete education that never forces them to choose between academic excellence and their Islamic identity.

Our Story

Before DHIS opened its gates, Muslim parents in Tamale faced an impossible choice every school year. Send your child to a good GES school and watch their Islamic education suffer, or enrol them in a Makaranta and worry about their academic future. Many families tried both — spending twice the fees, twice the commute time, and watching their children arrive exhausted at one school after a full day at the other.

Darul Hedaya Islamic School was founded in 2022 to end that compromise. The school offers the complete Ghana Educational Service curriculum — from Nursery 1 through JHS 3 — running in full parallel with a structured daily Islamic education track covering Tajweed, Hifz, Arabic, and Tarbiyah.

The school is rooted in the motto Truth, Honesty and Discipline, and weaves Dagbani language and local cultural values into everyday learning.
